VADODARA: The Faculty of Social Work (FSW) of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will host a three-day national conference on ‘Integrating Yoga in Modern Education’ from Friday.
The conference is being organized by Indian Society for Indic Studies (ISIS) in collaboration with FSW and World Community Service Centre (WCSC-VISION) for Wisdom Academy, Aliyar, Tamilnadu.
The inaugural address of the conference will be delivered by chancellor of S-VYASA Yoga University at Bangalore Dr H R Nagendra. Director of the Lonavala Yoga Institute Dr Manmath Gharote will deliver the keynote address on Reviving Ancient Ways to Enhance Drug-free Wellness. The conference will be chaired by director of the Patanjali Research foundation at Haridwar Dr Shirley Telles.
The conference will have 10 sessions over the three-day period. A release here stated that the conference aimed at bringing together innovative thinkers and educators from various fields to interact and share ideas to design and develop a yoga education programme with a basic standardised curriculum.
The participants will explore topics like limitations of modern education system, exploring yoga solution to current crisis in education, preparing the educators to introduce yoga at all levels of education, yoga for the body, mind and soul, yoga for living a balanced life, yoga for holistic human health as well as models of yoga currently implemented in selected institutions.
